i·dol /ˈaɪdl/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ahyd-l] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1.	an image or other material object representing a deity to which religious worship is addressed.
2.	Bible.
a.	an image of a deity other than God.
b.	the deity itself.
3.	any person or thing regarded with blind admiration, adoration, or devotion: Madame Curie had been her childhood idol.
4.	a mere image or semblance of something, visible but without substance, as a phantom.
5.	a figment of the mind; fantasy.
6.	a false conception or notion; fallacy.

I got the definition from dictionary.com. it was a bad connotation, idol, from a religious perspective. Can these contestants sing? Yes, they can thats the talent they are blessed with. Are they idols? No, they are just like you and me blessed with a singing talent.

I have never seen the show on TV, i have watched clips of Sanjaya on you tube. Had to see how a fellow countryman did in the contest? But tonight for some reason, i turned on watched the whole show- I didn’t know it was even on. What american idol did for charity is great. We should from what we have even without the show. But if the show inspires us to do more, So be it!! I even went on google and tried to view some clips from last week. the clip with Josh Groban and Afrikan kids were great!! So, if all of us can afford to give all we can to less fortunate than us let us do so.

Today, two of the contestants left and both the contestants knew they were going to leave. Phil told in lakisha ear that he was going to leave, and Chris told Blake to sit down. Even though both of them are going to get nice contracts from the fame, one kind of feels for them. Yes, there was a tear or two maybe more that i shed from Phils song. I did feel how they felt. I am sure it would have been the same if any of the other had left too. the key is can these contestants keep the same relationships even after the show?

tonite’ show inspired me to find my talent, so I can use it for His glory!! When is the next apprentice audition?

Our old man (Romans 6:6)

(Was too tired to do the blog last nite.. so doing it now)

I was off but i was in and out of the Kupboard, taking care of paper work etc. Then I decided to go to return a plate to the restaurant store around 2:30pm. I decided to stop by Pats’ Carried Away Cafe. Pat was at a doctor’s appointment, so I order an Italian hoagie and a split ham and pea soup. As I sit there munching, Pat talks about how them being featured in the Morning Call boosted their business. I discuss some business and then leave. Needless to say, i forget to return the plate.

I drop off coffee at the Kupboard for Shirley (Pat wanted us to try out the coffee he had at the cafe), then I go ro WO+. This is my second consecutive work out in like a month and a half, so my body was kind of queasy!! I see Sonja there and found out that the antique store is opening in April. After a quick workout, i leave at around 6:00pm, i talk to Stan from Philly. I remember suddenly that i wouldn’t be able to go to church this week since i have to work this Sunday. So I decide to go to Quakertown Calvary, the Bible Study started at 7:00pm. So I print out directions from Mapquest (I still got lost because of my stupidity). Anyway, I get there just in time before Dave started the study. Dave was going through the book of Romans and was on Chapter 6.

I don’t want to write up the whole sermon, but it was really good!! He talked about how after being saved our oldman or old self was crucified with Him. It made me question my self about some issues i was facing and gave me an idea about what the mission statement for Kupboard should be.

Got to figure out what I have to give Uncle Sam.

I went to the bank to make the deposit … And Brenda yells “ I am so excited about tonight..” “ Brenda, write me the directions to your place” I have never been to a hockey game. I am not a big fan of hockey either. So I get to Brenda’s place by 4pm after downing a Cintron Tropical Azul (needed some caffeine). I get there and meet Brenda’s husband Mark, who introduces me to his other two girlfriends in the garage- one he uses for drag racing and the other he is restoring. I think they were Mercury 1968 Mercury Cougars, she is one in 300, he proudly sighs. Now I need to find an old car to restore- I will have Mark and Art retore it while I watch!!

Then we wait for the other 3 guys. Brenda starts calling them and finds out that Billy can’t make it. Billy next time call, if you can’t make it!! Then Mark calls Todd, a colleague of his and he comes. So we pack all 6 of us in Brenda’s Explorer- Mark and Brenda upfront, Mark older bro (I forgot the name), me and Todd, and Anthony (Mark’s younger bro) is thrown in the back… I listen to Mark’s stories about their trip to Vegas. Believe me, this stories are hilarious- u have to be there… We get free parking too.. We get a poster, we each spin a wheel at Skate zone booth and get some prices. An event coordinator shows us to our suite… We had figured suites were just a private booth. We walk into this suite with a fully stacked bar and dinner. We had a party hoagie on the table with chips and dips. On the side counter, we had roast beef and gravy, hot dogs, breaded chicken, and crab rolls. The cooler was filled with sodas, beer and root beer. While we were chowing down the hoagie, our waiter brings a box of pizza and wine!!
Can this get any better?

In walks two drop-dead gorgeous ladies. They were beautiful! They say hi and go up and sit in the seats. Then two guys from Lancaster join us and then another couple who work for Wachovia join us… then I grab the bottle of wine asking if anybody wanted wine… I was hoping to make small conversation with the pretty ladies… Nope, I didn’t have anything more to say other than “Would you like wine?” I stared at them and walked away… one of the girls looked like Jessica Simpson!

This particular night the Flyers were giving a tribute to Keith Primeau. He made a very touching speech, which honestly made me want to play hockey… Then the game started… The ref fell down about one minute into the game and Anthony yells out “SHOOT THE ZEBRA!” Then the game goes on and the score is tied at 1-1, then we stand there goofing off… the girls leave after the 2nd period… then the camera finds this heavy set guy dancing- this was the best dance I have seen, it was hilarious! Then we see the gorgeous girls through the camera in the crowd (Why would you go from a box suite to somewhere else? I guess we were too loud!)

Then 3rd period comes around and we CLIP the red wings with a score of 6-1… during the period Brenda packs everybody leftovers for next days lunch… We get home within an hour and I zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yea, Yea, Yea…. Colts won!! Manning can cuddle with the Super Bowl Cup and Grossman can go to Chicago and try to defend why he should still be a NFL qb.

After helping Paul move, I decide to go to Keith’s house to watch Superbowl and not drive to Philly (I have to work early tomorrow morning too). So i take a 45 minute nap (waking at 4:45AM to pick up donuts on a Sunday morning ain’t easy). I decide to take some of our famous Emaus Bakery donuts (Why not take something nobody takes to a Superbowl party?). I get there and “Da Bears” are already up by 7. Eilleen lets me in and I proceed to Keith’s newly finished basement. Hard wood floors, stone columns and stone front walls, 6TV’s you heard me right- it’s 6TV’s (I don’t think some bars I have been to have 6 TV’s). (Keith now you get the honors of doing my apt floors and outside). I tell Keith, “Da Bears” got it…

Then I go to participate in the most important part of the game- eat! There was a Chilli cook-off, exclaims Keith. I try the Chilli with 3rd place on it and then go to the bar area (no, i don’t drink)! Mark looks at the Chilli and tells me its his chilli, then another guy behind the counter (I learn latter on that his name is Smitty, the other chilli chef) grabs my bowl of chilli stirs it around and tells me that I got the bad chilli. Mark gets defensive and they go at each other… It gets better! Mark’s rooting for “Da Bears” and Smitty for Colts and Mark is wearing a “supposed throwback” jersey (a white tee- shirt with Grossman #8, written with a Sharpie). I wish i had a camera on Smitty, his antics are hilarious (his wife pretended like she didn’t know him- Just Kidding, Smitty!).

And now what you have been waiting for- the analysis of the game…

A very interesting game, Hester starts of the game with a touchdown return (starts the perfect tempo for a Bears game, which also was a record), then Colts score but fail to convert the extra point and “Da Bears” score again. “Da Bears” are in full control they should be cruising through, then the defense lets up in the 2Q, and “da Grossman” (I ‘d trade him for a bag of Doritos) and fumbles the ball, Benson fumbled too, but Grossman looked like he shouldn’t be playing in NFL at all! Now you saw rest of the game- it wasn’t pretty! Colts did a nice change up of play calling with a good mix of pass (247yds) and run plays (190yds). ” Da Bears” are known for their defense- What happened? They started letting up, with a defensive team like “Da Bears”, you need a Jim Johnson play every time- BLITZ. I know its Manning, scare the pants off of this guy… Yea, I know switch it up, he went shot gun plays, still pressure him… send Urlacher in every other plays!!

No, I don’t blame the defense, the team lost because of “Da Grossman”. He looked like he was star gazing, the passes were long, short or nowhere near the receivers. He made Colt Corner Backs look like Pro Bowl wide receivers and fumbling the ball twice. It was pathetic! Grossman, I don’t think I would have you in my pick up game with that kind of effort. You should be the MVP of Superbowl for Colts team. Tomy readers, yea i am harsh at Grossman, but at the end of the day, he is taking millions home and I am sure he can handle this sort of criticism!

What could “da Bears” have done differently? Lovie Smith should have stuck with a run a game force it in, he used Thomas Jones a bit but not enough. Infact with “da Grossman”, i ‘d give the tailbacks the ball on all 3 downs, thats if “da Grossman” can hand off the ball perfectly. Yea, benson got hurt, use the 3rd string back on a switch- up.

Now let’s give credit where credit is due- Tony deserves it and Payton maybe… Tony has taken teams to playoffs 8 times and the year after he was fired from Tampa, they win Superbowl. Colts look like the team that desrve to win than “Da bears” who are more of like a one hit wonder where all of their stars were alligned this year… Congratulation Colts!! Manning, go visit your high school, I saw an article in NY times where kids from Arlison high school making encouragement signs for you- you owe it to them!!

I had to come back and add this part- how can I forget the commercials and half time show? Half time show- Prince! I haven’t seen Purple Rain and and how is this guy who is under 5feet tall manages to attract beautiful ladies. I am not hating, just stating some facts. The song was OK, but the show was obcene (there are kids watching the show). What’s up with the white towel, in the back showing his shadow, it looks like he is doing something else. Did we forget the wardrobe malfunction? Apparently, implied exposure is not the same as “showing it. Where are our morals? Now commercials, I liked most of the GM commercials (I used to work at GMAC), I think some of their cars are priced very competitively. (GM send me a free corvette z06 for this plug). The one with different people and celebrities singing about their cars was a nice touch. A common theme I saw was animals talking- funny I thought. I always like the caveman Geico commercials. Yea, we know sex sells- godaddy.com knows that too ( I think they host all of our websites), I still remember last years godaddy with the woman’s top’s thread coming off…
In my opinion, the best this year were Coke’s, taking Grand Theft Auto guy doing good for the community (i think I saw a similar commercial with a guy walking and helping difeerent people, it wasn’t animated though) and honoring Black history month. We eneed more of such commercials with a positive message… zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Now the games done!! “Who wants to play some poker” yells out one of the guys. I love the game but I can’t play since they were playing for cookies. So I say my good nights and leave…

Eilleen warns me, “Don’t forget to make chicken and rice soup tomorrow”.
